During my twenties, I became obsessed with mosaics, spending my time crafting them from broken tile shards. It was during a trip to Barcelona that I found myself captivated by the architectural wonders and artistic creations of Gaudí, leaving an indelible mark on my memory. I loved it!

The search for more mosaics led me to a narrow street where the enchanting ‘Palau de la Musica Catalana’ stood. This magnificent building, designed by Gaudí’s contemporary Lluis Domenic i Montaner in 1908, blended traditional and modernist styles into a striking and original design. Its entrance boasted towering pillars adorned with vibrant mosaic stones and floral motifs.

Stepping inside the concert hall surpassed all expectations, as colorful stained-glass windows bathed the walls in a symphony of hues, allowing daylight to permeate the space. However, it was the breathtaking 3D stained glass window, resembling a chandelier suspended from the ceiling, that truly enchanted me. The Palau de la Musica Catalana is a place of genuine magic.

This experience left an indelible imprint on my soul. It was the first time I truly appreciated the ethereal interplay between glass and light, a revelation that sparked a keen interest in seeking out similar instances wherever I went.

Years later, I returned to Barcelona and this time I braved the long queue leading to Gaudí’s masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia. On that day, the sun’s rays streamed through the numerous colorful windows, creating a beautiful and magical moment. Ever since, I have been drawn to the rose windows adorning similar edifices, unable to resist entering churches and capturing numerous photographs.

Inspired by the gothic shapes and vibrant stained glass of Barcelona’s Cathedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia and Paris’ Eglise de Saint Germain, the serie Rose Windows, seeks to capture the essence of their splendor and bring it to life.
